I was not sure where to post this but I figured the Mauser section would be close to appropriate. If not, feel free to move it.
My father received this in the 1950's or 60's. The numbers do not...
What month is the USMC barrel?

Does anyone see this as a possible USMC rebuild?

Is there a large gas escape hole on the left side of the receiver?

It was pretty rusty and I was not in the gun buying mood (yes that's possible). I actually left the gun show empty handed and came back later when I came to my senses. I'm sure glad I did!

I recently purchased this rusty 1903 and was reading through John Beard's book but things don't match. It is a Springfield Armory 194,002 with a 12-10 RIA barrel. As far as I can tell the barrel...
The auction has ended so I assume it is OK to post this.
They listed a Remington 1903 with USMC and USN markings. Has anyone ever seen this before?

There is a small plate on the right side of the buttstock that says is was given to someone by some unit and it is dated 1930.
The sights are standard military sights and do not look like the rear...
Thanks Rick T.L.
The serial number is 1,310,899 does that have a hit in any books?
It has a star gauge barrel but there is no number on the stock. The stock is nice but I cannot tell if it has been...
It may have been 1,310,899 but I cannot be sure. The serial number was etched into the polished bolt.
I will go take a closer look.
Thanks,
Jarrod
Forgot to mention that it has what looks like the standard military rear sight. Also the cocking knob has no flange to grip it. I did not remember to look for a drawing number on the stock.
Thanks...
Hello, there is a National Match rifle available for sale locally. It is 1,310,??? and has a more coarse buttplate, polished serial numbered NS bolt and a C stock with DAL. I believe that the barrel...
I would say Greek but I'm not one of the experts.

Also, there are a couple of repairs in the stock.

Curious on what you experts think about my dad’s rifle and whether or not you think this is a USMC rifle.
It has a Segley 12-43 USMC marked barrel. The stock has been refinished (assume during a...

I bought this a couple of weeks ago because it seemed like a good deal and it was neat because of the old stock with no stock bolts. It is stamped PAOD and has a Rock Island 5-09 barrel. The magazine...
Numbers are mismatched and the mum is ground, which is why it was relatively cheap (by type 44 standards). Dust cover is missing too as is apparent by the wear patterns.
What amazes me is the...
I purchased this Type 44 back in the spring. It’s pretty beat up and certainly saw some use. I was wondering if you could tell me what the yellow painted letter on the stock means?
I assume it was...
Would it be possible for you to post a picture of the RIA barrel marking?
Thanks,
Jarrod
Wow! Since it didn't have a hatcher hole and it looks like WWII rebuild stamps I didn't think it was USMC. Too bad someone sanded the stock, though they did a good job.
The buttplate is checkered...
I bought this 03 a couple of years ago because it was cheap and I have a couple of questions I was hoping you experts could help me with.
1. There is a non-matching serial number etched in the top...
I bought this sling about a year ago and I’m not sure what it is. It’s too short to be either a M1903 or M1904 sling. It is about 63.5in long with its button flap folded over. There are no holes...
