Yep...that's what I'm thinking too. You will likely feel them touching the commencement anyway, they'll stop hard before they should. Too, bullets that touch the commencement have a higher pressure...
If the primers were fired then the powder should have...still sounds like an overall length thing, bullet in LEAD or commencement... Would have like to watch. Good thing they didn't go if it were...
I'm dying to know what the ammo problem was, not enough chamfer on the outside of a trimmed case mouth? Wouldn't chamber correctly? Need a small base sizing die? Wish I could have been there to...

I have to agree, the brass is available as is cheap enough ball ammo. Buy the gun and salvage the brass out after.
