A friend of mine has a WW1 vintage No. 1 Mk III Enfield that is - he was told - "factory chambered" in 30-06. Has a warning on the butt stock with a red stripe and wording to the effect don't shoot...
I have one just like it - serial no. 42875 - with the exception of the Litshert and the butt hook. Great shooter and mine was lined with a Redman insert! I hope you try it with the aperture sights.

CCi Standard Velocity. I personally would not use any high velocity rounds in any vintage trainers.:D
Cheers,

Yes, I have one of those myself and they are great Canadian trainers! Very simple and flat out accurate. I have the OEM aperture sight for it that I bought from someone on Canadian GunNutz.
Dear Danktreebranch,
The Remington 341 is an excellent piece of pre-war (WWII) ingenuity! It's a grow-up version of the Remington 34 which preceded it. The 34 is relatively petite whereas the 341...
A bit costly to be sure but looks to be in good/clean condition. The add-ons - ammunition and bayonet, sheath and frog bumps the price about $250 to $300. And obviously there were some bidders that...
I believe it's a post-war and of '48-'54 vintage. They - FN - made a lot of these for export to Palestine and the middle east.
Schwinn Bicycle Company...a former Chicago institution!
Hot off the presses folks...200 rounds for $150...in a cartridge can. They were "found" in a British Armory and they don't give anything away as to its age and origin. Only to say that it's Berdan...
Andy, you are a persevering man bar none! I've seldom been so impressed and, as if to cement the impression, you're a dog lover too. A renaissance man indeed. We are all indebted to you...and...
Brian, Sent another dozen downrange today. This time with the Weaver K3. Took about 8-9 rounds to get zeroed in...not like my .22s when I can shoot at a small piece of rock on the range berm and see...
Nope, Brian Dick, don't have the original scope although it might be somewhere in a big ol' family farmhouse in Vermont where many of my dad's boxes remain. I'm thinking about going on a treasure...
I took opportunity of a slow day-before-Thanksgiving to take my two No.4MkI "T" rifles to the Crooked Oak range in northwestern Alabama to try out some of that Greek .303 HPX ammo at 50 & 100 yards....
Thank you Peter for that sagacious advice. My usual cleaning for centerfires starts with Balistol, brush, Kroil, brush, and Eezox then patch to clean. I use good nylon brushes on good rods. On...
Dear Enfield Enthusiasts,
As an early Christmas present, I'm looking forward to a shipment of 450 on stripper clips. It says on the Cheaper than Dirt website that it's non-corrosive and boxer...
Shoot it! They're lovely rifles and I've happily discovered that my hand-me-down Shirley - shooting Prvi Partizan - is quite accurate. They bark and push-back a bit, as any lighter rifle will do, and...
Dear Fellow Enfield Enthusiasts,
I was under the impression that all No.5 MkI "Jungle Carbines" were built by Fazackerly and BSA Shirley. I saw a Longbranch Jungle Carbine on GB which made me...
Although it maybe "a dummy mag," it certainly is not one of the original "dummy mags" IMHO which made the Cooey M82 silhouette appear to be more like that of an Enfield No.4 Mk1. The one in your...
If that rifle could talk, imagine what it might say. It looks as though it was stored next to a dryer vent. Will be anxious to see what's under all that grime and, more importantly, to find out how...
Dear gdisharoon, Those are pretty good estimates and I'm quite sure that Peter Laidler - one of this forum's well-regarded holy-of-holies - will be along to tell you that it's worth what someone is...
Yep, two thumbs way up for Brian at BDL. He will help!
Dear aussietomcatter, I have the exact same set-up for sale here in the States. It was given to me to sell by a good friend and former member of several shooting teams. Truth is - I'll probably buy...
Instead of steel wool, I'd recommend using the Big 45 Frontier Metal Cleaner from:
Big 45 Frontier Metal Cleaner
This stuff is just the ticket and unlike steel wool which rusts like crazy...
No idea what it might be worth but it's sure good of you to post those nice pictures. For some reason, I'm all thumbs when it comes to photography! Thanks
Bump to top! Don't miss this story!:thup::thup:
