There is a small plate on the right side of the buttstock that says is was given to someone by some unit and it is dated 1930.
The sights are standard military sights and do not look like the rear...

It may have been 1,310,899 but I cannot be sure. The serial number was etched into the polished bolt.
I will go take a closer look.

Forgot to mention that it has what looks like the standard military rear sight. Also the cocking knob has no flange to grip it. I did not remember to look for a drawing number on the stock.

Wow! Since it didn't have a hatcher hole and it looks like WWII rebuild stamps I didn't think it was USMC. Too bad someone sanded the stock, though they did a good job.
