I agree, that little bit of surface rust is no big deal, has probably occured in the past 5 years, and similar happened to it back in time before. Just put oil on it (don't let the oil be so thick...

Pretty good finds this weekend. Got two unused MC1 Camillus aircrew auto knives, lot of other good stuff.

I just don't think I'd get $4000 worth of enjoyment out of one of those rickety knives. I have a similar one that just doesn't have the bale, made for civilians. I paid about $70 for it a couple...
I think anyone who has bought in the past 10 or so years has bought at the top of the market bubble. There just are going to be fewer and fewer collectors and shooters that want M-1s in the future....
I went ahead and bought it without being able to see a makers cartouche at the seller's home. But when I got home and cleaned it, it's an IMP. Should work fine for the other helmet.

Hi again, I found a liner that I'd like ID'd, picking up this afternoon. With the tan webbing, I assume it's WWII era. To put in my refurbished helmet above. What do you say, is this a good liner...
Thanks yall. Sorry about the central pics, I was thinking of just the rear sight. I will pass on it and stick to Colts for now.

Hi, there is a Krag carbine I could get for around $700. It looks very nice, I'm an experienced gun collector (mostly colts and pre-war rifles). But I know most of these are just cut down rifles. ...
I think it's a little too soon to be digging up dead Germans for their uniform items and equipment. In the West, we treat war dead with the greatest respect. The Japanese do for ours we do for...
For a "buttery smooth" 03 try butter instead of grease. Seriously, the Krag was smooth, relative to the springfield.
Thanks, good plan.
Thanks, I'm learning. I'm thinking the rear seam M1 was reconditioned for Vietnam. It has a buckle that I think was barely used in WWII, plus it's the darker green color. I see two layers of paint...
Thanks, will continue to check the newer steel one. It has a code 1196A inside. I put the camo cover with it.
Hi, got it out. It's olive drab on top, and it has the grommet in the center front. The steel helmet looks newer, has the rim seam in the rear, and 1196A inside. The camouflage cover is...
Desert southwest here, we don't get much rust. Also, from the estate of the owner, seriously doubt these old timers would have any repro stuff, they had generations of stuff at their house being...
Hi all, I'm just starting to learn helmets, and picked these up this weekend.

Calculate the scrap value of the brass, add $25 for interest factor.
The M1 Safety is hard to engage, always has been, always will be.
I'm sure the guys that were there wouldn't appreciate that.
Hi, I've had this Krag for almost 20 years, bought back when they seemed to be going up in price, so I thought I better get one. The cartouche is 1902, and I always figured that was all I would...
I heard they were going to be auctioned off, with a starting bid of $2999.
Just kidding, sorry you spewed your coffee. But i will be close. Hype and lots of clamoring make for stupid high...
I was a surface sailor in the USN. I saw collisions, fires, electrical shocks, people falling overboard. Being at sea is dangerous. For some of the reasons why this could happen, read this blog...
Bwahaha! Thanks for this.
Hi, I'm curious why this one sold so cheap? WWII 1943 Remington model 03-A3 30/06 bolt rifle : Bolt Action Rifles at GunBroker.com
Are there any red flags showing? Other than it looks like no...
Every item on this forum that is collected belonged to someone at some time. And millions of men served in WWII and Korea, so there are millions of items. Sometimes the service member himself gets...
