Well that's just sad. At least there are some pictures i can use for my restoration.
Could use that stock set alright. Would love to see the inside of the stock where the front bracket would sit around the barrel before it protrudes out through the handguard. I'm guessing the...
quick search indicates that stamp was issued from 24 October 1973. https://www.collectgbstamps.co.uk/explore/years/?year=1973

Thanks, I've tried to PM to Warren (at suggestion of Dr Roger Payne) a week ago, but no response as yet, hence my post.
Thanks Brian. Will start searching for some now.
My Savage no.4 mk1 (T) is a 15C prefix and has the year (1942) on the body wall.
Anybody know of an acceptable substitute for the grat wire in a No.32 Mk3 scope? Luckily the vertical post on my scope is present but unfortunately the grat wire is long gone.
Hoping there is a...

This has been bugging me for ages. Found Adblocker in settings and now the website looks like it is intended to look!
Thanks RASelkirk for asking the question.
It's just poorly stamped over other proof/inspection markings when the rifle was made. Nothing to worry about. Nothing is barred out.
P14's were done by 1917, so it was not manufactured in 1918. If it was used in the homeguard (WW2) it wouldn't have had the the inspection stamps. If it was a Model of 1917 receiver it would have...
The P14 mag box in post #8 is a Winchester made one. It won't fit an Eddystone receiver. I very much doubt you have a Model of 1917 with British acceptance markings/proofs on it. What is the serial...
P14(F) rear sights either have a serial number that matches the receiver serial number or has a barred out serial number of a previous rifle. Both of mine have the barred out serial number, but I...
Perhaps you missed it my previous post, but your mag boxes 1 and 2 are NOT P14 mag boxes. Can you update you other post about the remaining 3rd mag (the pictures didn't attach)?
For curiosity's...
#1 is a Remington mag box (check the rear exterior surface of the mag box for an R) for a Model of 1917 (not a P14) , #2 appears to be Eddystone (the E marking would have been stamped on top of the...
For reference, here are two different NZ marked p14's showing their stampings. Each only has one NZ stamp, and each stamp is located on opposite sides of the receiver.
As to your NG stamping, not...
First off, are the mag boxes you are trying Stamped E? When it comes to P14's and interchanging parts its a bit hit and miss. Winchester marked ones (W) won't work. There are two variations of the E...
I've got 2 NZ stamped P14's (both Winchester fine sight rifles). Owned plenty of HG marked rifles (Long Tom's, etc) over the past decade or so. Any chance of a clear (focused) picture of the...
You sure its a NG? It's most likely HG (Home Guard). New Zealand rifles taken for use in the Home Guard during WW2 were marked HG then the serial followed.

Its a great looking rifle! I'm sure you'll be well pleased. Also got my no.4T from the same seller. Breaking up of the late Bruce Gorton's rifle collection by the looks of it.
Sold for NZD $14,751 (approx USD $9000).
90L8006 is for sale in NZ. Not associated with the sale at all, just wanted to post pictures for posterity.
Link to the auction if interested.
