Does it have choke stamps or not?
Sorry, jughead you can't send any pistol to a CA C&R, it has to go to a FFL, even if it a C&R pistol. C&R long guns are like any state.
CA FFL's had to register and get CL#, they send that # with...

Are crossed cannons stamped after park or before? It looks after, that would mean original?

First off, I want to thank Mr. Holbrook for sharing parts of his collection with us.
Second, I have a M1 Garand NM Type 2, NIB with the stamp.
Garand Collectors Journal noted on it Summer 2007...
Tom, you give this guy to much credit, for having a original heatshield. It does'nt flare down at the rear. There are four reinforceing dipples on the top, instead of two. Were are the rivets,...

What do you guys think about this one?
July 1942 barrel.
After reading collecter notes in Mr. Canfields Johnson book, pg.250, he says "Some rifles with blued rotary magazines have been noted which indicates that component has been refinished". I hung my...
My vote is Original stock thats been sanded. Sling swivel should sit lower in wood, that means wood has been sanded away. Why who knows? Besides that it is a great conditioned trenchgun!

Maybe its original and its just been sanded and refinished? A pic of the sling swivel inletting may tell the story?
Stock has been replaced. The butt plate looks a little larger than stock. Should be sanded flush with stock.
Mr. Canfield states that most all serial # date tables are incorrect, off by years. The only thing we know is contracts were cancelled for M97 in march of 43, so it was most likley made in 43. The...
I think production was wrapped up in 43, and this is a late one. I guess it could be under there. In Mr. Canfields new book pg.124 it show a barrel off, the date is pretty close to the threds. I...

You did good! The color you see under the blue is correct, its called rust blue. It does look like it has been apart one time, the screws, a couple of small dings by the pins. But no problem!!! It...
