A friend has one and I had shared the blown up rifle thread with him, and he was curious about ht epaint on his barrel underneath the wood. Does that signify Canadian service, or something else?...
Thanks for the info. I knew the early Savage made rifles were made with six grooves but wasn't sure if or when they switched to the two grooves. I knew mine was not an early example by the s/n.
Was the Savage version rifle issued with a five groove barrel from the factory? Or, was it a two groove barrel? Also my rifle has a "B" stamped on it, and I'm assuming it was refurbed at the...
Awesome!!! Mind if I ask how much total $ you have in this rifle. I have two M1A rifles, one with the selector opening, and one Super NM. Looking to add a dummy selector to the one with the opening....
Thought the web sling that came with my BAR looked familiar.
You'll have to work on the BAR part now. I considered the BAR to be an investment, that I can take out and play with, without suffering any interest penalties!

Sarge, So I'm guessing the sling swivel is positional up, or down on the gas tube. I'd seen the vendor you are speaking of, and was seriously considering it, but wanted to be sure about it first....
I have had the rifle slings page bookmarked for many years now, and they are a nice reference source. I'd read where the BAR sling had three brass hooks, and was heavier than the standard M1907...
I'm sure there are different ones for the different models, and was wondering which would be the correct one for my 1918A3 that has all wood furniture. I know the A3 is OOW unique designation for...
Is the rubber soft, or hard after it breaks down?
Will check.
I have a friend that has an Eddystone M1917, and the bolt release has an "S" stamped on it. I've never seen an "S" stamp on any of the other M1917s that I've disassembled ever before. Anybody know...
Just got my first Japanese rifle, Type 99 Ariska, with chrysanthemum, bolt dust shield, perfect chrome lined barrel, mismatched bolt, monpod, stock furniture is excellent, intact aircraft/ladder type...
The way I came up with my figure is that the parts alone are probably worth somewhere in the $800 to $900 range. However, I'm not an expert on these by a long way. I've learned a lot here from all of...
$3g was his bottom $, I've offered $1g. Which is still prbably too much, but it is a nice piece.

Yes they are polished, but too many things don't add up. I'll ad pics when I get home.
No I haven't, it may be going back to the seller. It appears that it is not what it was told to be, NM with star gauge barrel.
Are there any other indications that I've missed?
Would there not be proof marks on the barrel, or stock after the rifle had been rebuilt? Also, was there nothing on the rifle saying it was a NM rifle? I was also noting the fonts of the numerals on...
Pics are in my gallery now. Let me know if others are needed and I'll put them in the gallery, if that's ok.
So the rifle was never sold by the DCM, much less being a NM rifle by the receiver number. The stock, and barrel don't match the receiver, and were more likely a replacement part at sometime or...
Rick, Thanks for the info. Looks like bad news for me. Will try to post pics, spent all of my $ on rifles, not cameras:madsmile:. Probably should have "C" stock? Are the NM rifles bedded?

SN 1256524, barrel 3-37, S stock, check'd butt plate, etched sn on polished bolt, star symbol on the crown, S.A. SPG carouche on stock, and of course a Springfield. National Match rifle? According to...
