I was completely mistaken , hadn't had rifle but a few hours. This is a ishapore 7.62 rfi Enfield version. Any how, it had the wooden handguard above barrel originally, but the synthetic does not.

Well thanks for the info guys, I figured it would cost a fortune to bring it back to life, but was not sure what I had. I may just sell this one and find the real thing, it has no sentimental value...
