Yes it did sell. I think it did well. Now I've got to sell the Greek ammo, books and a StoneAxe muzzle and throat combo gauge. Also some other odd ball items. Look for them in the for sale section of...

Well, life seems to get in the way. I am sad to do this, but I have to sell the rifle. Listed it on gunbroker last night. Would I best sell it as a whole or part the rifle out? I wouldn't part her...
By looking at the below pictures, there seems to be a unit stamp of some sorts. Is this a rack number or unit number?

No offense taken. I appreciate honesty. I know you guys are here to always give great advice. :beerchug:
Thanks! This will be passed down to my son one day when he is ready.
Thanks to all for the great comments and honest straight forward truth. I am very happy with the rifle, and I will try to hunt down some of those needed parts. First item is going to be the WRA lower...
Thanks for the info. LOL! I'll just tell myself it was a field replacement to make me feel better. It is what it is. I feel that I got a decent Winchester garand at a decent price.
Thanks for the helpful info. What do you mean by a WRA RS stock? Is it common for the cartouche to simply wear off? Do you have a good example of a WRA lower band so I can compare it to mine? Do you...
The gas tube looks very white, like all the bluing was stripped off. My VZ-24s looked like this too due to cleaning solutions that stripped the finish off. Is the color of my gas tube due to the type...
It is hard to tell if the coverplate has a punch mark or not. I'll try and get some pics up later today. If it is not punched, I am fine with it. Were all early WRA parts punched?
Mine says Trade Mark (with a space seperating the 2 words) Did not notice the hole in the hammer until you mentioned it. I looks purposefully done. Thanks for pointing that out.
There are no inspection stamps under the lockbar sight. If I can remember where I read it, some early stocks were not inspection stamped. I could be wrong though. Got it for $, which I am happy with.
Well, I bought this rifle from a gentleman off of gunbroker about 6 months ago, and knew I had a keeper when it arrived. I finally had some time to really tear her apart and reference the drawing...
Thanks guys. I know the Win-13 is correct, but the Win M1D does not have papers and is most likely a rebuild. I am leaning heavily towards the Win-13.
Which Garand would you say is rarer, a Win-13 or Winchester Garand M1D? I have a chance to buy either one. Please let me know. Thanks.
Hmmm.. I initially thought the Italian walnut was a mistake from the contractor that sold the military the walnut wood for the Krags. I would like to know which is correct.
Congratulations John...
Got this from another forum and it works for a leather sling:
(1) Lay the gun on a flat surface, hammer (bolt) on top, muzzle to the RIGHT.
(2) Lay out the sling, parallel to the gun, FINISH...
Thank you very much. Do you have pics of your bayos? Would love to see them.
Very nice display!:super: I need to get a mills belt too.
No. The stakes in the ground represent the firing line. Those guys were ok.
My son and I went to the range yesterday with my 1873 trapdoor to see how she faired. I was relieved that the thing did now blow apart. Weather was beautiful at around 75 degrees with a light 5...
I have used leather CPR with good results. Leather CPR will not destroy cotton stitching. I have used this on a dry 130 year old leather Trapdoor sling with great success. Viewing the previous posts,...
Ok, I read the Federal regulations and while I have great respect for the flag, my intentions were never to disrespect. I do not read Federal code very often either. I hope there are no hard...
I just picked up an 1873 trapdoor rifle and it came with a bayonet and scabbard. This bayonet does not have the "US" stamped on the base of the blade. Is this a reproduction of some sorts? It does...
Yes Sir! I am looking for an 1898 (I have a 1902 Series 2 rear sight) or later American walnut handguard to match the rifle. If anyone has one, let me know. Thanks!
