Thanks for the link to your thread. Your Type I looks terrific! Very interesting to follow the history of these milsurps. Now I can tell my son-in-law that its a stock from a Naval...

Good eye sir! Checked the reference photos of Type I rifle on Liberty Tree Collectors web-site.
The trigger guard has the same squared off shape as my mystery stock's.
Finding...

Thanks, I'll take a look at Type I info to see.

If anyone can verify that the rifle stock is from a Type 30 I would appreciate it.
I bought Frank Allen's book on Early Arisakas and it has one photo of the Type 30. It looks like this rifle...
The mystery stock is not sufficiently inletted to accept the Type 38 receiver/barrel assembly.
I bought a Type 38 thinking to install the barrel/receiver and bolt in the above rifle stock. But it does not fit as the following photos show.
My son-in-law's grandfather left him a part of what appears to be an Arisaka rifle.
The stock, cleaning rod and trigger guard/magazine are there.

Sorry, typo

What a wealth of experience and knowledge on this web-site. I am so glad to have found it.
I agree, from experience, that steel wool whiskers are a pain to deal with. I have used the white and...

Thanks for your response. Being a new reloader, this is my very first batch, and the books all warn to heed the directions lest a gun explode in your hands. So I'm keyed to being...
Thanks everyone for your kind comments. That is what I try to do. Smaller projects but done meticulously. My little lady is happy.
For my Lee Enfield which is dirty and dinged with a few deep...
Just learning to reload. Starting with 9mm Luger casings fired in my P226, and for reuse in same weapon.
Lyman 49th ed. says to trim to 0.754, Lee's 2nd edition Modern Reloading also gives same...

You are hereby charged with "aiding and abetting"! I mailed the CMP order information today.
I realize its a bit of a lottery thing from here, with several thousand mail orders in the...
I appreciate that a novice woodworker could change, even destroy the character of a historic rifle. Not my intention, just starting to inquire how to go about cleaning up this rifle with due respect...

As requested. Sorry it took me a while to get to it. I was wrong it was not FTR. Looks like Fazerkely.

Thanks for the tip, never thought of resorting to mail order. Was getting set to drive to the North Store.
I'll give it a whirl, since I have all the paperwork on hand.

At $600 price point, I'm ready to jump on that. Where are these Service grade at $600? I've been haunting the North Store Forum for months. Should have bought a CMP Special, but they...
OK Folks, I'm not denigrating the Cs and Ds. Love to have one. I am regretting not buying a Garand when they were around $600 from CMP, now that price range is unavailable, and the Cs are way out...
To All Who Have Responded:
Thank you for the informative input. I am learning a great deal about cartridges and reloading.
This rifle is one I bought out of nostalgia. About 50-60 years ago,...

First time on the range with this weapon. Fired 10 rounds out of a No 4 Mk 2, just acquired. Five rounds in a white box (reloaded?), came with the rifle. Also a dozen rounds of...

Thank you for responses, puts my mind at ease. Got some ammo, now I need to find a good shooting Garand. Wish CMP North had something else besides Cs and Ds.
Best regards, Ray.
