The five is in the fourth picture the one that has my thumb in it. Looks like a 5 with what looks like a padlock or might be a dent from use I don't know

Thanks for that!!! I think the 5 under the hand guard means the 5th military district which by memory I think it would be Western Australia. But the Barrel has been marked 1950, could it be possible...

I live in Australia. Thanks for the info. I got it because it matched the date of my 1918 ShtLe .303 even thought the rifle was aussie made hahaha
