WarMuseum.ca - South African War - 2nd Regiment, Canadian Mounted Rifles
This might contradict or confirm the date range for the Canadian Mounted Rifles, depending on when the squadron was first...
the C^G stamp indicates property of the Cape Government and then you also have the later U with broad arrow indicating ownership by the Union of South Africa. These are all consistent with long...
I noticed the "United States Property" stamp on the receiver. Doesn't this indicate that it was part of the Lend Lease Program?
Just as a useless anecdote, at one time in South Africa the licensed part of the rifle was the barrel. Receivers were not registered.
I am making some replica smoke grenades for my Daimler ferret Scout car. They are British No. 80 WP smoke grenades and I am looking for the fuse/spoon arrangement as shown in the pictures. Obviously...
David,
I took a look last night and I have a 1942, all matching Savage No 4 mark 1 in the 11C serial number block. It has the same mark on its cocking piece, the cornered box with rounded "S"

Looks to me like it's a transit chest for the Canadian C No.7 .22 rifle.

In June of 2013 I thought I needed a project to fill up my spare time so I bought a Mark 1 Ferret that was ex Canadian Army from a guy here in the USA. My previous experience of vehicle restoration...
Ross rifles used by the Canadian Expeditionary Force in WW1 are marked with numerals indicating the battalion of that force. There was a 31st battalion which was from Alberta Canada. I wouldn't have...
Could the PW be for the Public Works battalions raised during WW1 for the Middlesex Regiment. Might be worth researching them as I know PW was used to identify their unit on their medals
I took the Enforcer to the range on Sunday. After bore sighting and firing four rounds at 25 yards, I had the rifle hitting the point of aim. I then moved it out to 100 yards and fired eight rounds...

With some help from Simon and Alan, I know rifle No 516 was dispatched to Northern Ireland Police on 24th March 1977. I'd like to think that the scope and bipod are the ones bought by the Police at...
The rifle is also fitted with an unmarked bipod that I assume is a period Harris bipod.
Is Sterling a British importer of Japanese scopes?
I will take some more pictures tonight showing some...
I'm not normally a person that will purchase a rifle without first picking it up and giving it a good look over but, I recently purchased a lot of five rifles from a well known auction house here in...
The picture of the Butt Stock shows some markings:
M&D is "Militia and Defense" - showing Canadian military ownership - I don't remember the period that M&D was used but I'm sure someone will...
Do you have any information on Enforcer S/N 516 seen recently at auction in the USA?
From the answer you received, I suspect the seller is looking at the cocking piece where he sees the M/202. He needs to tell you what is stamped on the rear facing side of the bolt handle - this is...
Based on the serial number stated by the seller in his listing (BZ12617) that number would identify the rifle as having been made by ROF Maltby in the 1944-1945 time frame. What can be seen from the...
