Thanks for the info. I knew the early Savage made rifles were made with six grooves but wasn't sure if or when they switched to the two grooves. I knew mine was not an early example by the s/n.

Was the Savage version rifle issued with a five groove barrel from the factory? Or, was it a two groove barrel? Also my rifle has a "B" stamped on it, and I'm assuming it was refurbed at the...

You'll have to work on the BAR part now. I considered the BAR to be an investment, that I can take out and play with, without suffering any interest penalties!

Yes they are polished, but too many things don't add up. I'll ad pics when I get home.

No I haven't, it may be going back to the seller. It appears that it is not what it was told to be, NM with star gauge barrel.

Would there not be proof marks on the barrel, or stock after the rifle had been rebuilt? Also, was there nothing on the rifle saying it was a NM rifle? I was also noting the fonts of the numerals on...

So the rifle was never sold by the DCM, much less being a NM rifle by the receiver number. The stock, and barrel don't match the receiver, and were more likely a replacement part at sometime or...
