Nice set of rifles,
The NS is for nickel steel, and the J 100 probably forging code for the billet the receiver milled from or inspection codes. Hopefully many chime in the confirm this.

Use this chart at the site, it accurate when dealing with Remington 1903 & 1903A3. http://www.remingtonsociety.org/1903-and-1903a3-production-and-serial-no-table
The grasping grooves don't look correct, especially the ends and center of the grooves. The stock have a lot of wood over hang at the but plate. Rest of rifle look good with some mix parts.

I hope NDVermin is still watching these thread. Look like a nice rifle, by those pictures provided it does look authentic. By serial# was produce in Sept 43. barrel only off by 3 mouths so possible...
You can get away using a extractor without a hole if your rifle has the left side gas escape hole (Hatcher Hole) as well in the receiver. As for WWII, companies under contract made both extractors up...
Either will work on any 1903 or 1903A3 bolts. the only difference is the 1903 extractors have a hole drill in it for gas escape from the receiver/chamber in case of rupture case. You will only need a...
Hi Bear,
It a Rock Island Arsenal part. I had a 03 bolt sleeve that had an ordnance bomb and 30 or 36 below it on the right side. After doing some research I find that how RIA marked some of their...
I agree with the others, don't mess with it since the rifle so pristine. Find a beater 03A3 to make a Faux-A4. Would like to see pictures of a fairly price M1903A3, like your region of the country,...

Answers for your above questions.
1) That R is a some type inspection stamp. Remington marked their stock else where.
2) Your bolt is a Remington 03A3 bolt. The C is again another...
Hi,
The looks like a nice restoration that can run to the amount you paid, but not unissued rifle IMO. The receiver & barrel could be original by the Remington serial #. But a number of the parts...
Nice looking rifle, I bet it was refurbish more recently. the stock has to be a reproduction IMO.

Look like a really nice rifle, it been rebuild during WW2 (non-grasping groove stock without 03A3 upper guard retainer ring cuts, Remington safety collar & striker rod). Here in Carolinas most LGS...
Eric, if the rifle is in good shape as you said, has original parts, original stock, you paid a fire-sale price for the rifle. Here in South Carolina most 1903 goes for 3 time the price you paid,...
Let us know how it shoots once you have a chance get to the range.
Unless you bought the rifle for collector purposes (investment), to me its not that big of a deal the part are (as the rifle...
Nice looking rifle, from the pictures provided it look like some type refurb was done. the bolt is parkerized, not the original blued and the trigger guard is a Remington also and is parkerized and...
Hi Todd,
Let the other, I don't see any safety issue from the pictures provided. As for the stock you do need to see if the repairs done already are antiquate to prevent any more progression of the...
