Kev,
Yes that is the photo left hand one of the soldier looking down on St Annes Cathedral on top of the New Lodge flats in Belfast. Not a Royal Marine, but an infanteer from another Regiment....
I have always assumed they were to be used on replicas not on a serviceable weapon.
Due primarily to the cost of a real scope, people purchased the Taiwan copies for that purpose of reenactment.
NO...
I have been racking my brain in the search for a B/W photo of, I think, a Royal Marine with this sight mounted on an L1A1 on top of New Lodge flats in Belfast. Seems to have disappeared when the...
John,
I would place a date around early to mid 70's as we trialled several spot orientated scopes then in Northern Ireland, as we found the SUIT series wanting. I know we have spoken about those...
I collected the lot and brought them to Police HQ Huntingdon. Still have them recorded. Cambridge City had the most consecutive rifles at 15 mostly bought in 1974 at amalgamation from various Force...
Here is the photograph I bought with authentication on the back. Fully understand Admirals wanting the biggest flag raised to show such a great achievement and moral booster, but as I understand it,...
I have an earlier flag raising photo with the smaller flag signed by Charles W Lindberg, an authentication certificate is on the back of it and it was expensive I remember that. I bought it many...

David,
I did reply to you via your email, but here it is again just in case Lee Enfield ENFORCER S/N 502 was delivered on the 24/3/1977 to the Northern Ireland Police (RUC)

I had a couple of scopes I left unintentionally with direct access to sunlight, and thats the colour they went to. An all over tan you couldn't replicate it with a spray of any kind quite effective!
Could have been left in severe sunlight for a long while!!
This is number CGP 0004 in the photo below
Reference CGP 0005 AT ENTRY 542 in trhe records it simply says: 5.56mm Alloy Bipod NO SAFETY in M85 Jungle Stock no scope fitted. AUSTRALIA for tests...
Simon,
Got a lovely L1A1 .22 conversion kit in 7.62 triangle wood and butt currently fitted with German bipod for sale, also my Cambs Police service ENFORCER as well.
Give me a bell if you have a...
Simon,
Not sure you were requesting the rifle information or just saying you had it in, but here is the information if you need it:
Lee Enfield ENFORCER Serial Number 300 was bought by Kent...
Jim,
A definite possibility, but ones I have seen with that pitting in that specific area has been where it has been most exposed to damp for long duration compared to the rest of the metalwork...
Looks like it spent a lot of its life in a holster by the pitting, and probably in a damp room.
Nice find, especially if you can balance out the provenance to it as well, could be very rare...
Yes no problem, made me chuckle.
Send us the number we can only check the lists to see if its there mate.
Gil;)
Thanks John
Dear Members,
Some good news and some bad news.
As you are aware. I have for a large number of years been responsible for assisting members with rifle serial number checks on all Parker Hale...
Yes a sniper telescope straps and caps.
Any photos of the stand please?
Bruce Crompton, of COMBAT DEALERS fame on TV has just recently finished one. Beautiful condition to.
Blimey what a mess. Certainly wouldn't be any chance from an enemy in the jungle identifying a country by their footwear anymore then?
Peter,
Interesting.........notice the DS staff are minus any medals including the pre 61 GSM except for the Guards WO2??
