Thanks for all your help Chuck, got the front sight installed except for the pin....How much force should it take to get it through the hole and does it matter which way you put the little holder...
I opened the hole up and it is 90% good now. Do you have any front sight installation tips Chuck?
Here is the picture of it before......in full sporter garb.

Well, as the rifle had sentimental significance, I didn't want to mar the front sight. However, I did have another Eddystone front sight......So, my not wanting to ship it outweighed the sentiment of...
I "REALLY" want to avoid the hassle of mailing the gun. If mailing ends up as my only option I've already decided to ask ChuckinDenver to do the work.
Why? I have the original stock....That picture was taken with the real pretty stock.
I already struck out once.
I'm refurbing a fomer sporter model. I have a new stock and all the correct parts to make it as it was when it was a military model. All I need is the front sight...
What a clown. Your note was professional and well written. His response tells you all you need to know about him.
I don't know if that is a good deal or not. Where do you get the receiver and barrel?
You make some good points George. I would imagine however, most of your market already has one or two of those tools and being a niche market probably doesn't help your price point very much. It...
Nice tool but the price is way too high. I can nearly buy a CMP Garand for that price. Sorry to rain on your parade, but I can't believe no-one has said anything about that price yet.
No no no.....I bought the stock separately and it is a very nice reproduction stock. The stock it initially came with was quite extensively beat up.
That wasn't you bidding against me on Gun Broker on that operating rod was it? :)
I used this method to clean up my stock. It worked very well. It isn't perfect but it is far better than when I...
Yes, you are correct. I didn't even check the sight.
I disagree. I picked up a nice FG Garand from the North store in June. The FG are an incredible value....The wood may not be the best on them but I can buy a new stock any day of the week.
I am extremely happy with my copy of the Red Scott Duff book.
I bought the Scott A. Duff book and used it to detail all of the parts on my Jan '44 SA CMP Garand, serial number 2.44M.
I've found one part that is not correct for the Jan. '44 production date...
What exactly does a CMP Garand or Carbine certificate certify? Only that it was purchased from CMP? Does it add value to a rifle?
Chicago Rob,
I highly recommend this forum for finishing questions. Cabinetman can help you with the correct approach for your carbine.

Trend Micro usually blocks these and alerts me. Obviously it didn't say a thing about that site for I wouldn't have posted. What software are you using that picked it up?
Hmmmm, and I thought I...

Good luck.
Yep, you're correct. According to Duff they started Parking in September 1918 and reduced the number of employees required from 305 to 80 and cut the time down by quite a bit as well.
Like I said.....:o I've personally read a lot of bad internet information on this rifle. I wouldn't have known any better had I not invested a small amount in a good book and sought alternative...
I think you'll find Chuck in Denver disputes that information as well.
Dan, you're wrong on the Star. It does bear out and it appeared on Winchesters until February 1918 because that is when Winchester obtained "interchangeability" status with the parts of the other...
bb1, you are confusing the '03 Springer with the '17 Enfield. Single heat treated, carbon steel '03 receivers were brittle, could and did break. Oh, and I highly recommend not shooting at the...
