I am selling two of my three remaining M1s and can't decide which is the most desirable. The first is a '43 SA with original barrel. The second is a 1.9 million serial number SA with a SA6-46 barrel...
My 416 rebuild came with a Redfield rear sight/ Stevens front sight parkerized along with the rest of the rifle. Can't answer you on the stocks but mine is oil finished.
That's a fine rifle and a great example of a SA rebuild. Just for kicks what color is the bolt race? Parkerized or in the white?
My RIA is misfiring on CMP ammo but fires consistently with handloads and Federal primers. I have the factory spring in it which I believe is rated at 16 lbs. and Wolf offers springs of 20, 24, 26,...
Thanks George,
I added it. Great reporting and covered everything. With provenance too, I love it.
MK111, yours is only the third one with a Redfield globe and no one has ID'd the model yet. Perhaps a search for a 1946 Redfield catalogue.
Big Larry,
Thanks. The only reason I did this because...
I have 43 of them in the database and basically the bulk were produced in 1941 and 1942. None in '43,'44,'45. There must have been a small run again in 1946 as some of those reported had provenance...
Lee,
Got it and I PMed you my email address. Thanks, Richard
Publius, I PM'ed you infor on how to add his rifle to database. Thanks.
Anyone have any idea of what .45ACP ball ammo is with WW2 dates on it? One box sealed and dated 5/44 and the others are open and not sure of exact dates but full boxes and in WW2 date ranges.
...
I'd do it in a heartbeat.
An original barrel/receiver combo are very desirable to me in a WW2 rifle and if the barrel is tight even more so. A nice tight stock with correct stamps would be even nicer. That would seal the...
My cousin lives in West Chester and I think he was a member of a range around Honeybrook.
That was interesting. Just hitting it at 300 in that wind is amazing.
Without a doubt take the Winchester.
I'm not the expert in stock stamps but it appears you have a period Springfield Armory stock. The bottom could be GHS for Gilbert H. Stewart and the cirlcular thing is the Ordnance wheel which would...
Nice rifle but why in the world would the thought of replacing that stock enter your mind?
Now that's some apples and oranges.
I'd go for the Winchester since this is the .22 forum and I like Winchester 1890s.
15,000 produced at Oberndorf until 6/46 and then an unknown quantity of rifles made in France until 1947 using parts built in Germany. Kind of like a Winchester parts clean up operation. So the...
What do you think? Did we leave all of the P17s behind at the old forum or what? Nah, probably not. We'll see a few P17s pop up I'm sure.:bash:
