My cell phone in an indoor setting doesn't do the rifle justice at all! I adde on the flash suppressor on for the "cool look" feature!
One of my most beautiful firearms is my 1941 Garand, SN 301XXX, which I've owned for abut 10 years. Haven't shot it as of yet. While if's beauty is stunning it has been refinished, at some point...
That's true but by 1918 my receiver was already 9 years old and "wasn't" made of the nickle metal as were signified by the earlier serial numbers than mine. Just confusing! (According to mfg dates.)
Ooooops! My post #2 above has errors in it. The pic is wrong and I mixed up in which thread I was in. Instead of M96 it should read Leaded T2 MK5, which isn't being discussed in this forum! Don't...
Thank you for a "very interesting" and informative post! I had noticed on mine just how far out the firing pin had protruded beyond the bolt face. Having not shot my rifle I had not noticed the...
Yes it's mine and as usual I have not shot it either. Most all my rifles have not been to the range with me. I guess I'm just an "aquirer" of rifles instead of a shooter! LoL The former owner had...
I was kidding! I should have put a "LoL" at the end of that last line. Ha Ha
I have a copy of "Hatcher's Notebook" and have been doing some interesting reading, starting on page 212, about the...
It does not have the Hatcher's Hole on the left side. It does have the smaller hole on the right side. The 03-A3 does have the Hatcher's Hole on the left side.
(Should I drill a hole in the left...
Funny you should say that cause I only had $30 in my pocket and I was flying around the show, getting wind friction, begging people to loan me $200. Fortunately I found a friend that loaned it to me...
Oh yeh, I was wondering if someone would catch that! Good job. Now I know that I'm not the only one who was a fan! LoL Glad I only paid $225 for this miserable piece of of parts on a knawed out...
I don't know why, but my M96 came with a M16 style stock. Most all fixed stock rifles, that I see pics of, don't have that style but have a club style (like RPK) stock. Must have been a aftermarket...
Does my Robinson Arms Expeditionary M96 rifle fit into this category? Had this rifle for about 3 years and not much interest out there for it. I think it's a very cool modular design of Stoner's. ...
The T38 didn't have a butt plate so I put a French MAS-36 slip on and it really fits nice and works well.
Now I do and is the same on my 1903-A3 stock.
My Rem 1903-A3, Rem 9/43 barrel, has the same Scant stock but the receivers' rear sight mount has been "flat topped" and a Lyman aperture sight added. Both barrels are nice two groove.
I just noticed there is a little hole, chipped out, in the lower upper stock. Never noticed it before. The receiver has the original patina, of the time, and everything else has been replaced.
Good question! I dunno but sounds possible. Probably happened when action was re-barreled during/after WWII.
A friend, at gun show, told me that after WWII the Japanese were engraving T38 and T99's for the civilian export market. Does anyone have any information on that information? (Fact, fiction, myth...
Every time I watch the movie "Sand Pebbles", with Paul Newman, I get goose bumps with all the 1903 action shooting. How about you?
Pics: Manufactured in 1909. On the right side, muzzle end, of the barrel has an "F" for Flannery Bolt Co.
About 8 months ago I picked up a really nice Springfield Armory1903. It is a low SN 361,6xx with a HS 1944 barrel. Has forged trigged guard/floor plate with a nice stock. "However" the stock is a...
More photo's mixed between the two.
Better late than never! (Mixed photo's of the two.)
Hope I can get some good pics tomorrow in the sunlight.
First is a heavily engraved Type 99, custom made stock, engraved trigger guard, 2/3 barrel engraved with silver inlaid elk head, receiver engraved and custom turn down bolt. Cal 7.7
Second is a...
