Just wanted to post one more time and thank all the friendly members who took the time to post here and answer my questions. I am the new guy here and you all responded kindly with factual...
So another question, I posted this on gunboards and a few members have stated that the mag and mount were numbered post war because mags were not numbered during WWII. Is this true?
Thank you all for your help. Like I mentioned, I didn’t doubt if it is real. Just curious is the numbered mount and numbered stock were war time or post war rebuild numbering. Thanks!!! Keep the info...
Hello everyone,
I have this No. 4 T sniper and would like your opinions please. My main questions are, is the rifle serial number on the stock war time? And is the serial number on the scope mount...
I agree. Refurbished SVTs should not cost this much. But often times can sell for this much. I to am waiting for the ban to be lifted and prices to fall to Canadian prices.
Refurbished SVT 40s are not hard to find at all in the U.S. And $1100 is typical price.
Now factory original SVT 40s are extremely difficult to find every where. $1100 for a factory original rifle...
Does the guy on the right with the wine bottle have some type of cover on his helmet?
This has always been my favorite picture of a GI with a 1903 A4 sniper. Thanks for posting!
Yes! Alex, myself and RyanE have been discussing this for years and have been trying to tell people. Now we have the proof. Thanks for sharing the info here.
Bob did your Nephew die in a car crash coming home from the Tulsa show? I know this happened to one of the top Luger collectors earlier this year.
As always Jim great info on the 1903 A4. I think you need to write a book on them so that we have all the information long term.
What do you make of the 3-44 barrel on a 3.4 million serial range?...
Cool picture. Do you when and where it was taken? Thanks
Thank you Patrick, great advise! I understand the extreme difficulty of authenticating a rifle as "Original." Which is why I have not yet purchased anything. Good pictures will be a start and I would...
Thanks for the advice, I am certainly trying to take my time to make sure I make a good decision. I understand there are a lot of M1s out there but from my understanding there are not may factory...
Thank you guys. I will post pictures if and when I get them and then we can continue this conversation. Thanks for the help so far.
Man you guys are tough on a new guy to the forum. Do you believe I am trying to do anything other then what I stated? Let me make it abundantly clear, my intention is to purchase a original M1...
Bob, this was my initial thought also. But then I see CMP auctions like this. I know this is a Winchester and is 1943 but still, $16,000???

I am not selling anything, I am wanting to buy this rifle. I would post pictures if I had them but I don't. I will as soon as I get them.
From my experience of purchase valuable firearms, there...
Thanks. This was my thinking as well but wanted to know if I was alone in this thinking. I am more concerned with the price since it is a late war gun. It seems like late war M1s don't sell so well....
Thanks for the reply's. I am aware of what a restored rifle is verses a original rifle. The rifle in question is a 100% original rifle and still has the grease on the metal from the factory. We have...
I am looking at a few M1s to purchase. I am curious what you all, who are more in the mix then I am, believe the current value of 1944 dated M1s are. I know that the earlier the rifle the more...
Same as Tula. Some sort of Lacquer.
It looks like your stock was a Podolsk stock before it was sanded and used for refurb. It looks like the BC in a square that is found on original Podolsk rifles. Can you confirm it is a BC in the...
This is no feeling. It is a fact that by very late 1941 when Tula factory #314 was evacuated and relocated to the Mednogorsk Factory that they started bluing bolts and bolt carriers. War time bluing...
Tula only numbered their bolt carriers on top for a very short period of time. The vast majority are numbered on the bottom. Izhevsk and Podolsk always numbered their bolt carriers on the top as...
