Thanks guys. Yeah, it is a nice stock. If you guys are ever in need of a K98 stock, let me know and I can pass along the seller's contact info. He may have more. (He is on Gunbroker as well). I think...

Thanks guys. Yeah, it is a nice stock. If you guys are ever in need of a K98 stock, let me know and I can pass along the seller's contact info. He may have more. (He is on Gunbroker as well). I think...
Agreed, that is a gem Badger! Those early K98's are works of art, beautifully made.
Here is my August purchase and finished project. I am very satisfied how it turned out.
I bought a...
Yep, x2 on the RC
There are a lot of nice stocks under the Russian shellac. You also get the satisfaction of refinishing the stock the way you want. (if you go that route, but that could a whole...
Maybe the cutter wanted to keep the handguard/rear band after sporterizing it so he left a little wood in front of it to add stability and keep the rear band on a little better. Sure, after the first...
Hey, this is just like the Price is Right!
I am going to say somewhere between the two fellas above. Bolt mismatched K98's seem to go for around $700-900 so I would think this one would get at...
Maybe he is fishing for the the uneducated buyer as well, who knows. 15 hun for a rework is sillly.....
I was thinking of buying a 'matching' K98 off of him previously and it looked good from the...
It is tough if not impossible to date that stock to a specific year with a Waa63. You really only could narrow it down to when that waffenampt was in use and where. Some Waa's could be nailed down to...
Badger's link should help you with most of the markings you are inquiring about. ERMA (German factory) is an early manufacturer of K98's. I believe they stopped making K98's near the start of the war...
I got mine at Home Depot or Rona, can't remember which one. I think I have a 16 oz bottle and for how much you use on a single rifle, it will probably last me for as long as I need it.
As far as Canadian significance, Enfield No.4 rifles that were made at the Longbranch factory here in Canada are a good place to start. You can find them sporterized and full wood, though you will...
Ain't no way that one is a repro!! Nice find....
Wow, 130K for an FG42!! I knew they were upwards of 100 now but wow....
German mausers all the way baby!!
Oh yes, I saw this on another board. That Stern collection is unbelievable! Here is a little slice of heaven right here:

I would be...
Nice, looks like a great day! Sure is sweet having the place to yourself huh?! :)
Yeah, I was in Milarm the other day and can confirm this with the listed pricing. They also have 7.62x39 available if anyone needs any.
Thanks for your info Stevo. The Milarm price seemed kinda...
Looking great Mikkel, excellent collection. I like the theme going on!
I think I know a guy with a Port like the one you described.... ;) :p
That would almost certainly be a K98 made at the Oberndorf plant. It would have had either a 42 or a byf code on the reciever pre-scrub. Badger was kind enough to post some waffenampt info here:...
Sweet! You got it, looks great. I love the sunshade. All is well with the internals?
That guy is always at the Edmonton show as well, can't remember his name right now though. Most of his stuff is usually overpriced like you guys mentioned but once and awhile you can find something...
Not sure during WW1, but the WW2 and pre-war standard German load was 196 grain running along around 2500 FPS give or take.
I found the 8mm 195 grain and 150 grain Hornady's to be nice, accurate and cheap bullets to use. The 195's will allow you to get very close performance wise to the standard WW2 German load. I use 47...
It sounds like a prewar Zeiss sporting scope due to the crosshair reticle and brass body. Like SDH mentioned, a pic would help to positively ID it....
Check German Ebay too, you will see different stuff on there than here. Just make sure that you don't get a scope with the integral rail on the bottom of it. Almost all of the WW2 German mounting...
Thanks guys, unfortunately the closest I will likely ever come to the real thing.
I got the scope for $350 from a gentleman in Germany. I didn't win one of his auctions on Egun, but he let me know...
