Well done sir!!
the E-10 was tapped, as is the MKIII conversion which has a cut down barrel and a cheap scope. All the rest are good.
I just disassembled my 1916 MKIII Ross and I noticed a greenish/yellow coating under the wood. What is it? It comes off with a bronze brush and CLP. The bluing underneath looks great. Should I...
Yup, I got the e-mail. The E-1910 has the roughest stock of all my rifles. I still haven’t cleaned it yet. I planned on soaking the barrel and action it in my solvent tank and giving it a...
I will do that.....

I've been cleaning today and again, I can't be more pleased on the condition of the rifles. All the barrels look fantastic, I was worried they might be destroyed from corrosive ammunition. So far...
My recent acquisition is a PLY and E marked MKIII Ross with shortened wood but full length barrel. It is in amazing condition with a nice bright barrel and great rifling. I am planning on replacing...
Pics in other post
Pic of my latest acquisitions. I am going to keep the two MKIIIs, two MKIIs, the .280 Ross, Scoped M1910, the rest I am going to put on gunbroker.
I am very please with the barrels and bores. ...
Well, I just picked up my latest acquisitions today. I am very pleased. Excellent barrels and the finish on all but one are awesome. One of the MKIIs was reblued and the stock was sanded. I’ve...

Mine was a bit difficult at first, it finally broke lose after using PB blaster. It had 75 + years of gunk in the bolt body and firing pin spring.
Have you thought about making your own firing pin out of 4150 and then getting it HT 56 Rockwell C?
An update on my MKII 3*, if one looks carefully you can make out the 1909 date of manufacture, serial number, and the 2 alphabet suffix on the stock
How about a pic?
Thanks, I’ll be looking at the local gun shows and pawn shops, being closer to the Canadian Border might help too.
I suppose, but whomever did it, did a thorough job.
They are there, stamped US and ordnance flaming cannonball
I totally disassembled and cleaned my Ross MKII 3* rifle over the weekend. It turned out great, the only disappointing part is the markings on the stock are mostly gone. Sanded likely by the US...
The reason I said practice on aluminum is it is much easier to cut and I have lots of leftover stock. I do understand there is a difference between chrome moly and aluminum.
Nice rifle, I’m jealous.
True, but there has to be a demand. Besides, I have a lathe, I might practice myself on Aluminium to improve my skills. Then attempt it on a barrel blank.
Has anyone found a US supplier of Ross MKII 3* barrels? I tried McGowen barrel in MT, they just responded today with a resounding no.
Different stock, some serial numbers on rifle parts. The one rifle has been sanded, hard to make out anything.
Got all 3 Ross Rifles apart, looks like they were originally another MKII variant. They are all now MKII 3 star. All bores and chambers look amazing! Feeling lot better about my purchase! Now I...
