Does anyone know where these can be purchased?
Thank you for any help.
With this load, I am able to hit man silhouettes out to 850 meters. The limiting factor is my 4X Hensoldt scope not the round.
I am building an L42A1 from a Maltby 1941. Lothar Walther is making...
Good shooting! Your load is almost identical the the one I use for my Steyr Scout Rifle. I use 42.2 gr. RL 15 and the same bullet.
In the L42A1, was the barrel beded or free floated? I am building one want to do it right for best accuracy.
Thanks for the information.
I live in SE Georgia US and it is very humid here. I was wondering how Enfield furniture holds up for extended periods in hot wet conditions. Our brothers in Australia spent some time in Burma, NG...
I stand corrected.
What was the thinking of the creators of the No. 5 bayonet? They abandoned the style of the No.4 and the handle is shorter than it should be for a good grip as needed on a fighting knife. I am...
Thank you so much for the information. It sounds like a re-barrel is in order. Maybe one in 1:12 would stabalize the 123 gr. military ammo.
Thank you ever so much.

I have this rifle and it does not shoot military type ammo ie: Wolf and milsurp well. In fact, I don't think I could hit a barn shooting from the inside.
It will shoot 154 grain softpoints...
I missed something important. There is a very bad stamping on the strap that is most likely an M. A friend says that is probably a Maltby rifle. The ENGLAND was a 1968 requirement by the US for...
It has the normal No.4 bolt removal spring loaded button. Not like other Savages I have seen.
The S in the serial number is clear it is an S.
Complete serial number S17491A
The rifle does not appear to be a Savage.
This rifle is in excellent condition. It has a two grove barrel. Not much on the strap except
a serial # SxxxxxA. 1941.
On the right side of breach there are proof marks and ENGLAND. I...
I spoke with them recently and they are preparing to offer .303 No.4 barrels soon. Criterion is a volume barrel maker. Their products are relatively reasonably priced. I asked them about making...
God! I love this place.
I see on the Walther site that they make replacement 98K barrels. I have heard good things about Walther button rifled barrels.
Any one tried these?
What are the differences? I can't tell from photos.
Thanks for the assistance.
Anyone have experience with these? Are they sturdy and durable? Useful?
Thanks for any feedback.
I am looking for this rifle and want to know if I can afford one. Are there any for sale?:D
I received the stock set from SARCO today 6-12-12. The forearm and handguard are in excellent - used condition. Some cosmoline in the interior. The buttsock looks new but has several stamps on it...
This forum is tops! I am very lucky to have you folks as unpaid experts.
Thanks again.
Thank you. I ordered a No.5 wood set from SARCO.
I have been looking on-line but having no luck. These butt stocks have dried up it seems.
I would very much appreciate any good leads.
Thanks for helping.
Thanks to everyone who replied. Those are GREAT insights and comments. This is the only place to get this kind of information.
I am not concerned about the proper indexing of the barrel...
