Certainly a fantastic example!
Rifle w/ grey transit chest is on gunbroker. I neglected to add that in my original post.
Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but there is currently a No4T supposedly of Singapore police issue that has a transit chest with the same paint. Perhaps that is the origin.
Thank you for sharing this, it is wonderful that you were able to track down the veteran that was issued the rifle. I was able to do the same with mine thanks to the veteran writing his name on the...
And the IWS arrived safe and sound, thank you!!!
Good man!

The last two L42A1s that sold on GunBroker went for $9325 and $8k respectively. The former was...
A better option at filling the slot until the real thing can be found is to carve one out of a Swedish AK4 oiler. The center chamber is the exact dimensions as the L42 brush bottle. Cutting off the...
Yeah, I've been doing a bit off that. Since I first joined this forum asking about building a clone T, I have bought, sold, and traded up through a few No4Ts till I got to my holy grail, a Gurkha...
Just my opinion, that's all. I'd just like to point out:
1) in all this forum, that includes former British snipers, armourers, and advanced collectors, there has been no mention of the discussed...
If I'm not mistaken, the two chambered oiler was brought up in another thread and it was pointed out that cutting it in half and using in leu of the actual pull through container would not work as...
Wow. I need a fraction of your luck.
That is awesome.
I'm of the mind that 5/7 is some kind of embark code. Both Chosenman's and mine have the marking and are both from 10th GR SP Coy. In searching through the archives of this site, I also came across a...
On mine, it has the markings for the Gurkhas, but the SP/R block is painted over the top line, hiding which brigade/company she came from, so I have been wavering between leaving it or stripping it...
And I was about to bid. Whew.
Anyone in forum land have an idea what 'SP/R' in a yellow square and '5/7' in a red square mean?
Thank you in advance for any leads on this.
My 1971 dated rifle does not have the loop.
PM sent
Ok...well still awaiting mine then. Had not heard anything since payment was sent.
Any new word on these?
Thank you all that weighed in. Whilst I have seen much discussed of bolt heads in .303 rifles, have seen little discussed on the L42. Very much appreciated.
Same here, but that Gurkha rifle is a crown jewel. My cover is off to you!
This topic actually is an offshoot of a conversation that Danny and I were having. I was of the mind that a high number...
Thanks for the intel! I'm Facebook buddies with your son and have drooled over your Gurkha L42. You, Sir, have an amazing collection!
I would definitely be interested in the Captain's input!
