Sorry guys showing my ignorance. I just assumed it would be as strong as it used the 7.62 NATO round.
A lot of 7.62mm NATO PH T4's used 150grn and under .308 ammo with no problems.
[QUOTE=Roger Payne;518455]There has been a lot of this woodwork floating about over the years on both sides of the pond. I've also wondered about when & where it was manufactured. So far as I...

Hi Guys
Thanks for all the replies. Food for thought on Dye or Alkanet. Not sure yet if I just want to touch up the wood where I have scratched it. Or strip it and refinish.

Sorry Guys
Found the answer. Another question though can it be replaced with a alternative red dye?
Regards Chubbs
Hi Guys
Is the red stain on Canadian stocks a simple case of putting Alkanet dye into Boiled Linseed Oil. Looking at tidying up my Long Branch No4 MK1*.

Hi Jim
Unfortunately I never got around to developing a load for it. So I don't know if the barrel is worn or not.

Hello Guys

Check the T&C's of all the delivery companies in the UK and it is easier to list what they will ship. Example wont send magnets but will send speakers. Go figure.

Thank You Brian and Roger.
Hi Guys
This came of a Long Branch N04 MK1*. I was wondering what type of wood it was. Is it the Birch?
Regards Chubbs
My guess also is that it is mechanical damage. i have seen damage like that on weapons that have been dropped into engine compartments and also having been trapped in revolving turrets of AFV's.
Thanks Sunray.
Paul S. I think you are right and as sun ray stated I think it is an obsolete Parker Hale type affair.

Headspace has been checked again by gunsmith and ok. Previous to that I had fired over 150 rounds through it. I really didn't have any concerns over the rifle failing just the legality of it...
Hi Glove
Marking is CM in the 3 sided box. Which I believe is 2014.

Hi DanL96a1
Thanks for those. I had read through them and it is confusing to as whether the Italian practice of not proof marking their bolts is acceptable in the UK.

Hi Glove
Thank you for your information. I have as you say the marks on the receiver and barrel but not on the bolt. I have contacted the Birmingham proof house and they say that there should be...
Thanks Surpmil.
If the crossed swords are a canadian proof mark then this makes it a bit more intriguing as the serial number is for a savage which i think is original and not redone like the...
Hi Guys

Hi Simon
So if the Italians don't proof mark their bolts how are they then sold in the uk without a mark?
