Dunno for sure without dimensions, but the business end looks to be the correct shape to remove/ replace the gas cylinder. Can’t figure out what the spring is for though, so probably wrong

Aha! Took me a little while to figure that out, but then it hit me that the shallow “v” and the two decorative holes together formed a “Y” shape, which fit perfectly over the 3prongs. Thanks.
I forgot that I have one of these tools, seeing your pics reminded me and reminded me of a question I’ve never had answered. - do you have any idea what the shallow “v” in the handle is for ? And...
I also like old radios, especially if they have a military connection. Here is a picture of a couple of military-looking old Hallicrafters radios, one from the late 30s and one from ca.late 40s. I...
Sounds a lot like a model 1938 submachine gun. If so it is full auto and illegal in most countries.proceed carefully!
I’m hardly an expert, but it looks to me like a welded spot. Therefore I would be very, very careful about shooting it. Looks like a job for Captain Laidler!
Be sure you’ve got enough pee jars!
Actually, it’s very inexpensive to go and watch. Really worth the small admittance fee, plus they have free campsites, reasonable dinner, small swap meet/gun show, and even a chance to shoot many of...
That tube with the holes in it is actually the operating rod. My original VZ52 and my VZ52 conversion to 7.62X39 have the operating rod/tube without the holes, which leads me to think that the...
I’ve dated a few pigs in my time, and let me tell you, a little lipstick helped a bunch!
This will be the least popular and most easily laughed-at of them all, but I submit to you ............ The Carcano 38 SR!
Reasoning behind this apparent off-the-wall nominee is as follows:

I visited Hiroshima in the mid fifties, and surprisingly enough encountered no animosity at all, or at least none that I was aware of.
I think that the bad feelings that the world expresses about...
Cinders- I had the exact same feelings, except that I wanted to throw a few of them overboard! I was alive when that happened, didn’t really understand it then but learned more as the war progressed...
sounds like a Winchester 1895, which is on my hope-to-see-one day list, let alone buy.
So maybe my old veteran friend was right after all. The evidence I see here does seem to support it.
True enough. I even wonder if I’m remembering correctly what the vet said back then. After all, it’s been 65 years ago now!
I have no idea as to the reality of the story, but I do remember talking to a WWII vet, back in the fifties, who spent a lot of time the Pacific theater. One of his stories was that the Japanese...
Just a thought, but I once had a similar issue, turned out there were TWO of the tensioner springs in the hole. Took one out and all was well, plus had a spare spring! So take a look in the hole...
Since my iPad and my Windows 10 don't seem to agree on how to do this, this is via Windows only. Should work.
BTW, the dowels are 5/16", not 1/16".

Being lazy, simple minded and cheap I went as simply as I could. Same as you, lots of well-safetied wall space, secure from prying eyes. Basically, I used 1x2 strips screwed vertically to the wall,...
A very good thought indeed. All of the bullets I used are flat base, and are loaded on the long side but not fitted to this rifle specifically. Will go though the process and check ‘em out!
As for...
Scope mount and action screws are all tight. All shots from a bench on sand bags. Haven’t tried the open sights yet, that’ll be next. By the way, results are pretty much the same with light loads...
Have a couple of Mosin snipers, one will consistently deliver 2inch groups at 100 yards but the other one ———really, really bad. Typical groups are 8 or 9 inches!
The really irritating thing is...
You’re right- going by memory, never a good idea.
Serial number too high, date too early, Finn stock- so no, probably not.
