This or That - Dilemma (Your thoughts)
I have a No2 Mk4* (.22 trainer) RFI 1967 (all matching numbers and nice condition) amongst all the other Enfields
I'd like to get an L39A1 to go with the Enforcers.
I cannot have another rifle -, no room in the cabinet, no spare cash and I cannot see the Police easily letting me have another (extra) rifle.
I have found a complete / original L39A1 and the dealer is keen on my No2 Mk4* and it looks like we can do a straight trade, the 'rarity value' / production numbers lean me towards the L39 (30,000+ for the Mk2 and only 1000 for the L39)
The No2 is a cheap-to-feed fun rifle but I already have a No7 Mk1 that does that.
I've already got two 7.62 rifles so why do I need another ?
Do I trade the No2 or part trade one of my No4s or my No1 Mk3*? (cash difference)
Do I keep the No2 and pass on the L39 ?
Trading my No5, No7 or Enforcers are not options.
I'm leaning towards the No2 / L39 trade but what would you do, and why ?

Go with your gut - it is your collection after all, and it seems like you have already made your mind up 90% of the way. Besides, it is good to have good Lee Enfields on the market - it gives us newbies a chance of purchasing them
(looks forlornly at his 2 L.E. No.4s).

Hi Alan,
as spinecracker said, it seems that you made your decision towards the Enforcer. Buy it if you are sure that you feel right.

Do it! .22" trainer for an L39a1? Yup, ja, da, hai, si! Run, don't walk to your dealer before he changes his mind. But that's just me.

L39
I'd do the trade.
Times are tough right now. I saw an L39 go for less than 900 USD on an auction site last month. I should have bid it up, but, times are tough....

Glad I don't haunt the auction sites, then! Too many other irons in the fire right now. I just think that an L39a1 is a great match to the Enforcers as well as going w/ the L42a1. Plus, it seems no great chore to find No2 MkIV's. They turn up around here pretty regularly. Besides, even if prices are deflated a bit, that probably applies to the 22 as well. Its still an even trade! Sounds like a great opportunity to me.

Trade it, if you get excellent quality gear you'll always be able to command excellent money for it or great trades. You don't need to own everything all at once anyway, I think just having it for a while, enjoying it, appreciating it and then passing it on so you can enjoy something else for a time is a great way to do it if you can't afford a massive collection. Just keep the eyes.
Just what I think
