A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I would be skeptical of that one. The seller is George of Riverbank Armory - Known for his Repros & Dare I say Fakes.
Also notice he says it will be featured in a new book. If they are supplying info for a book it's going to be full of disinformation.

Well if memory serves There was actually a guy here who used to set up at the OGCA shows who made these cut-aways I believe he had all kinds of diffrent rifles and pistols set up and for sale, looks a little like his handy work I remember he always accented everything with red paint.

The thing about the first cutaway is the cartridge. The ones I've seen have an extractor. No cutaway cartridge. That way we were able to demonstrate feeding from the mag with dummy cartridges. That part looks like window dressing to me.

Guys, if the barrel is marked 1/44, why does it have a type III sight? What about the late slide?

I was wondering that too. The few originals I have seen have been early features. The only late feature one I saw was an M2 cutaway. Maybe it is a shot out Blue Sky converted to cut away.

Bruce you missed the sarcastic tone of my typing...

Yea, it is very obvious as to its "post-war" construction.... remember, "There were only a few of these made. Complete your collection before someone else beats you out of this!"

I actually don't know what part of this whole thing is more obsurd... a training model with a serial number... too cheap to add an extractor.... an Inland with an Underwood replacement barrel.... the give-away plum-colored trigger housing from an Austrian.... or the cartridge cut away...

But I will give him one thing - absolutely everything that he typed in the description is TRUE and accurate.... its is rare and only a few were made (by him)... "A great deal of machining was required to produce this cut away model." is also true.... and I am sure it will be in the "new" book that he writes to correct everyone else's incorrect information and research....

Hey, maybe I should write abook about how the earth is really flat and everyone else got it wrong - I can even sale a flat-earth map that will be featured in my new book!!!!!!!
