Lucky guy, he has his toes. At one of our shotgun competition a guy was shooting from sitting position with the feets showing to the target with a slug in his foot, it looked not so nice. Now his right shoe is cheaper for the shorter foot. Idiot.

1) Treat all guns as though they are loaded!
2) Never point a weapon at anything you are not willing to shoot or destroy!
3) Keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to shoot!
4) Be aware of your target, what is in front of your target and what is beyond your target!
It really is just this simple!!!

It is that simple, but accidents do happen, even to individuals who are highly trained with firearms. A friend of mine who knows firearms, has used them for 30 years, and always follows the 4 golden rules mentioned by Bill (and that should be engraved on the heart of ANYONE who even looks at a firearm), got a finger and part of his hand blown off in a hunting accident (a rookie move by someone else in the hunting group). So, before judging the person, we need to know how the incident happened
. Looking at the injury though, it does look like it was self-inflicted, and I thought people only shot themselves in the foot to get out of wars....

accidents do happen, and 99% of them are caused by people who don't follow simple rules, like that Idiot that shot himself in the foot.

Accidents rarely happen unless a firearm malfunctions.
Call it what it really is, negligence.

Stevo, you are right, pure negligence.
The word "accident" is used now days to cover up for Stupidity.
Let's not have anyone be at fault, let's call it accident.

I wasn't using the term "accident" to cover up for stupidity. I work in healthcare, and the term "accident" covers a multitude of sins, including stupidity, carelessness and downright insanity lol. I just didn't want to assume that the person shot himself in the foot, as someone else may have done it (seen weirder things than that). Looking at the photo, though, it is pretty obvious that the guy shot himself - what a total muppet. Looks like he is trying to get a Darwin Award on the installment plan...
