Armscor Ammo
hi all, i was wondering if anyone had experience shooting Amscor USA
Precision 30 carbine.
it's advertised as FMJ, 110 grn, brass cases, non-corrosive and boxer primed. but it's remanufactured somewhere in southeast asia.
do you reckon this stuff would be safe to shoot in my poor old inland?

I thought Armscor was made in the Phillipines, and was new ammo. I had one box of it, and had trouble with functioning due to problems with the case length on a few of the rounds. I've bought some of their bullets for reloading the carbine, and they were more accurate than plated lead, but maybe not quite a good as Remington FMJ. The AP brass seemed a little soft maybe, but reloaded OK. - Bob

I reckon so. SGammo had a bunch a while back for <$20/box ... functions fine, well worth it.

of course by the time i got around to ordering the armscor from lax it was gone. maybe a good thing.
instead i ordered the privi from wideners. the armscor was reloaded and the privi is supposed to be new. and it was the about the same price. hopefully it will run as well.

I think you're better off not getting the Armscor. The case length was off so much on a couple cartridges in the box I had that the bolt wouldn't even close. You didn't even need a dial caliper to see the problem. In this picture, the Armsor is on the left and LC on the right. - Bob

Armscor is made in two different locations now. The company has opened a new ammo plant here in the US as well as their plant in the Philippines. I have seen long cases from just about every manufacture here in the US and in many different calibers. If you send them the long cased rounds with the lot information on the box they more then likely will return a couple of boxes of new ammo to you.

USGI, that's weird looking ammo. All the ARMSCOR I have (shoots well for me) has "gold" bullets (same color as case), not "copper". Sure those aren't reloaded?

Yeah, the newer bullets are for sure, gold colored. When I first saw them being used by BVAC in their .30 Carbine ammo , I thought they were using "Montana Gold" bullets. Their rep told me the "gold" bullets were Armscor. I'll have to look to see if I still have that cartridge in the picture, or at least that bullet - probably not. That picture was taken in 2005, and I don't remember how long I had the ammo before I tried shooing it. - Bob

I used the stuff about 6 or 7 years ago and had issues with it. Every time I shot the stuff, it left copper residue in the barrel till the point I had to take it to a gunsmith to see what he could do about it. He was able to clean the barrel up well enough to shoot the carbine again. He stated that he felt there was an issue with the bullet being possibly oversized in some way. I don't know if that was the real issue with the ammo, but it sure made sense at the time. I will add that the carbine I was shooting was an early Universal, possibly with a USGI barrel. I also still have about 200 round of the stuff left. I never shot it again after the incident.
I am not sure if the latest ammo is to spec, so maybe it's better stuff than what I used several years ago.
