It's a cut down 1905...and I think they called them a 1905E5 after. It's an American Fork and Hoe and should also have a set of three more initials on the spine of the blade indicating who cut the blade off. The scabbard is probably marked on the back with a little marking for the Victory Plastics...VP maybe. The number may be a rack number or a rifle number from somewhere along the line. Maybe just a control number. Looks like maybe a Greek re-park finish...maybe...

Yes, it's original. The BMG I can't decipher though. Usually they were marked by AFH after they were cut down, they seemed to have done most of them.

I believe if you turn the bayonet around so that it reads from the guard to the pommel, you will find the initials are UFH and this will be followed by a 4 or 5 digit number. Probably covered up by some of the grease and gunk. Looks like a Greek return by the CMP
in 2010 from the number on the guard, and the finish does appear to be the Greek refinish commonly called "Greek Black". See: Bayo_Points_40

You are right, I wiped away cosmoline
and sure enough the letters are AFH.. Wow I am blind, So what would have been the standard for 1943? Zinc Park or Bluing? The Greek Park is Manganese oxide and it is very dark for sure.
