Owen gun parts value needed to settle estate.

Looking for value on an Austrailian Owen sub machine gun parts. Have the barrel and fore grip assembly. Have the stock and 9 magazines. Also have a odd magazine which is not like the others. Thanks in advance.Attachment 96708Attachment 96709Attachment 96710

Owen parts must be rare with a good value! The extra magazine looks like an MP38 mag.

Agreed, looks like an MP 38/40 mag. All those are expensive. This will give you and idea what a gun is worth itself. Australian International Arms - OWEN MK I-Machine gun Firearms Auction Lot-303

Is that in US Dollar or Australianicon Dollar? Don’t see many of these come up in the US.

One showed up at one of the shoots that I host. The owner has since passed on. It was a very interesting piece, FA, original. Nice.

Wow, those Class III's certainly pack a very hefty punch to the wallet don't they!

I've only ever handled and inspected one Owen gun and that's the example in the Warminster collection, surprisingly compact, they look like a stick insect ... But I would absolutely love one....

Also in the RIA, a rather beaten up Mk2 Sten rebuild for $4500 - $7500! You have to really want a Sten to spend that sort of money!

On the same RIA, there's a M1icon SMG for sale, would I be right in saying the the metal band around the forend denoted Indian Army service at some point?

I think that’s a USGI mod to reinforce the grip as it was prone to splitting in some cases.

Dogtrk, as stated many times before, the market value will be what one is willing to pay at any given moment. The market is very soft in general, but for rarer pieces like yours, it will more than likely show itself to be easily sold, at the appropriate price. For those with the skills to fabricate or source the rest of the gun, they may pay $2400 for the parts you have. Having a FULLY BUILT Owen is something to behold. In general, I would think about $600 for the barrel and $600 for the stock assembly as individual parts. That is somewhat high for my tatses, but I know people will spend money on rare material. Magazines would probably be between $50 to $95 a piece, so a $450 minimum for mags. These numbers are based on many years of purchasing off of GB and other mainly Title 1 populated web sites. I am not a regular machine gun attendee, like Knob Creek. True machine gun stuff probably sell at higher prices, because the guns sell for higher prices. But we know the "parts" of many items sell for quite cheap at times. I base this on what similar products run (Sterling L2A1 Sub Gun, Lancaster parts sets, etc.) Unless there are a good number of FA weapons in the US, which I have NO clue? But without any additional parts or means of securing them (which is getting more and more difficult), it is a $1650 ticket to nowhere. Apologies if that sounds harsh. I am sure many will dispute my evaluation. Just one man's opinion. Heck, some guys are just happy to have parts to such things.

No, as suggested, that was a later mod to keep the forestock tennon from pulling away from the barrel. Apparently that problem developed.
