Seller says:
Hi Guys, I aquired this 8mm mauser sniper rifle with the understanding that it has not been made up from parts. The milled magazine floor plate, the unaltered bolt, and the butstock are all numbered to the last 4 numbers of the serial number on the reciever,
The front barrel band has a different number than the rest of the rifle and it has been struck out. The scope is of 6 power. The scope reticle is etched glass with a range finder reticle for 200 meters to 800 meters. The elevating knob is graduated for 8mm mauser ammo and marked for 100 meters to 1100 meters. The printing on the adjustments are not in "English". Look at the picture of the scope 1/2 off the rifle see the 7.9 mm on the side of the drum..
The rifle appears unfired," I am not going to fire it and get it dirty", there are some rub marks on the bolt where some people have been working the bolt back and forth. The sling is an old mauser one. The scope mount is a detachable style. Go to GOOGLE and look up "BOSNIAN SNIPER RIFLES" there is a amazing amount of info on this type of rifle. Questions ? just ask! This is sure to get the experts talkin'-----asking price $1695.00 delivered

Badger

Buy the gun, not the story, right? It's certainly representative of what could be found in the Balkans with the 6x calibrated Zrak scope and mounts.
However, those parts were/are commercially available to make up a clone. I have a real hard time accepting an "unissued" sniper rifle from that time and place. I think the cost to build one, including gunsmithing would be very near what he's asking for it.

I wonder what the threads are on the screws used to attach the bases to the rifle?
This seller has advertised a few made up sniper type rifles at CGN.

Given the ready availability of the necessary parts to make these up a few years back (I even made one on a m/m M48A), I would be wary of any originality claims. Certainly all the "originals" I have seen (ie, posted for sale directly from CAI back in the 90's) were well used, often with "art" glued to the stocks, and all were based on either M24/47's with bent bolts, or M48 series rifles. I've not seen an original built on a Yugo
K98k
refurb, personally. This does not mean they don't exist though.
