Follow up questions about Rock Island floorplates
When the leftover RIA receivers were sent to Springfield, were they bare receivers? Did they have trigger guards? If not were RIA trigger guards and floorplates sent to Springfield? Would a Springfield completed RIA receiver have RIA or Springfield trigger guards and floorplates? I can guess, but I wondered if any one had good information. --TIA

To my knowledge, all Rock Island parts were sent to Springfield as "bare parts" (i.e. not connected together). I don't have a detailed list of the parts sent to SA, but I believe all remaining parts were sent.
A rifle completed at Springfield from that period (late 1920s or early '30s could have had either SA or RIA parts. All were utilized, including those taken from scrapped LN rifles.

(1 & 2) Receivers sent from RIA to Springfield were bare. Some were nothing more than round steel billets.
(3) Very probably, but I can't prove it.
(4) Either would be correct.
Hope this helps.
