    Charlie,

I may be mistaken, but wasn't that posted a while back and several of us were complaining about the quality of the pictures? Looks like some better pics have been posted. As far as if it is genuine, I have no idea.

    Sorry I'm not any help.

My best guess would be Ordnance stamp and Sling cutout.. Am I close? Not many pix to look at...

    Were presentation carbines ever Ordnance-accepted?

This one was discussed a while back, and was thought to be a resoration. The one with the fuzzy pics was TEST 3 and was believed to be real.

    T-R,
I think your thinking about the TEST #3 RMC we talked about a while back. I recall it was a I cut with a beautiful tiger striped grain.
Here's the old link to that one......
ROCK OLA TEST MODEL #3 Carbine on GB

    Hi Paul,
Good to hear your feeling better. My best to you.
Did they re-build you with a real STENT or a piece of cut down Spring tube? ;-)

My times a bit limited tonight so I've just briefly looked over this EX RMC in question.
I can see thinning park on the Recoil Plate or it was possibly wire brushed trying to clean it.
The receiver doesn't seem to show the original patina I'd expect to find on a gun of this age, if in fact this is original finish, best I can do right now with the pictures provided.

As always......... curious to read your thoughts.

    Take Care My Friend,

Noticed the PRESENTATION tag is dated 1945.

Not sure if the date would mean much in this case because if it was a presentation carbine, the government should not have owned it and rock-ola could do what they wished with it at any time. The cartouche on the stock, I believe, should not be there in this case. The recoil plate may have been with the stock and someone not knowing any better may have switched it with the unmarked original. If I remember correctly inland did not give away all of the X series carbines until well into the sixties. I also remember something about npm giving carbines left over after the war to employees as long as the had no ordnance marks

My friend who worked for Inland who gave me the brick said that Inland had several hundred X series M1icon Carbines in their vault and gave them away to employees who retired as late as the early 1970's.
