I paid $800 for it. The barrel is whistle clean and looks new. The magazine looks almost new ( very very slight rub marks).

Condition is also top notch.

Have you checked under the grip panels for an importer's mark? At the time most of these pistols entered the US, some import folk were being quite sneaky with the required markings.

I pulled the grips and field stripped the gun. No import marks anywhere...including the magazine I even checked with a magnifying glass. Keith where did you find the info on the year of manufacture?

I believe the info is in a sticky on the The 1911 forum by bulletin or something like that (another forum not milsurps) top of page. I just google 1911forum and go to the 1911 manufactures and the usgi blah blah blah and its identified as a sticky at the top (Argentina blah blah de blah) hope that helps.

Keith where did you find the info on the year of manufacture?

Clawson includes pretty much all of the production and shipping dates for the Argentine Colts and M1927s in his book on the Government Models. Some good info on the Ballister Rigauds and Ballister Molinas as well.

No import marks anywhere...including the magazine

That pistol must have an interesting history at aleast as regards as how it snuck into the US! Have never heard of any pre-'68 imports, but things happen...Could have been a "good will" swap at some time. It also might help explain it's unusually good condition.

The only thing I see suspect are the marks around the slide stop pin as if someone tried to punch it out at one time? Or it could just be some pitting?
