    Thoughts about Sarco barrelled actions.

I was reading the latest issue of Shotgun News( Volume 67 Issue 36 December 20,2013) and Sarco's Advert(on page 86 in particular when I came across a listing for Enfield barrelled actions. It says Britishicon Enfield Builders Projects with various listings for enfield barrelled recievers. This lists #4 receivers for $75.00 USD and model 2A .308cal for $80.00 USD. Does anyone know anything about Sarco of Easton, Pennsylvania USAicon and their enfields. Also does that sound like a deal, the #4 and 2A models in particular. I have always wanted a .303 #4 and would love to hand build my own. I am somewhat of a hobbyist gunsmith. Its alot of fun. I will value all imput and would like to know what everyone thinks. Thank you.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. It may be worth having a read of Peter Laidlericon's articles - here - Index of Peter Laidler's on-line series of articles.......

Particularly the 'older' ones regarding stocking-up, trigger, sear, headspace etc.

It is not a 'difficult' job if you have a little aptitude, time, money, the correct tools and this forum to fall-back to.

It will cost you significantly more than buying a complete rifle but you will have hours of fun, a sense of achievement, and you'll know how your rifle works.
Mine are not the best, but they are not too bad. I can think of lots of Enfields I'd rather have but instead of constantly striving for more, sometimes it's good to be satisfied with what one has...

Thanks Alan de Enfield. I haven't read Peter's older articles yet since I have only been on the forums for a little while. Yeah headspace is vital and I need to get some headspace gauges soon. Im not too worried about time and tools. I am in it for the sense of achievement and pride of ownership knowing that I made it right with my own two hands. This won't be my first rifle build and probably not my last. Thanks.
