1945 90L Longbranch 4T for sale in UK - most expensive 4T ever?
I've just noticed a Longbranch 4T come up for sale here in the UK
priced at GBP 11,995 (over 22,000 CAD). It looks really nice but what a price!!
Anyone come across this rifle before?
Link to pics etc here - scroll down to rifle details

Think I will pass on this one well above my pay packet...........I have a pressed mag like the one pictured though I see the one on the rifle has what appears to be the Savage S on it but may be wrong and despite the claim the rifle would have had to have been fired to check zero perhaps they single loaded!

I think this one, from the same dealer, has just made this thread redundant Full Bore, Service and Sniper Rifles for Sale - Devizes Gunsmith
.303 Lee Enfield No4MK1T Trial Rifle, Circa 1941 (on a B-Pattern 1931 Trials No4). An exceptional example indeed and in fantastically original and unmolested condition throughout. Originally an early B-Pattern No4 Trials rifle built in 1931 and still bearing all of its original components and trials details such as the cross-pin retained cocking piece, broad English Walnut forend, magazine cut-off, 4-click rearsight with sprung ball etc. and virtually every part bearing Enfield inspectors marks. Trials pattern Butt with un-marked unit disk and trials Enfield examiners marks under the wrist and fitted with a Birch snipers cheek rest correct for a trials T. Matching original numbers throughout including, amazingly, the barrel which also bears the rifle number, steel batch number and the date (’31) and has an exceptional bore appearing to have had very little use and gauging at .303” dead. Converted in 1941 at Enfield to a No4MK1T trials rifle with the usual modifications (front pad with Enfield inspectors stamp) and fitted with an un-coded, un-numbered Rose Bros. bracket typical of trials 4T’s, 1941 Kodak Ltd No31Mk1 telescope fitted which I believe to be original to the rifle – the ‘scope number is 7126 and the number on the rifle’s wrist is 7129, I suspect the 9 on the rifle is the 6 struck upside down. In simply fantastic and probably unrepeatable order throughout, this is not the usual codged-up/re-built trials T. £17,500.00

For 17,000 BP I would rather buy the L96 with all the gear that was put up recently

Seems odd that the scope body is noticeably pitted but the rest of the rifle metalwork is in very good condition?

I believe that it's actually painted.
Some early No32 scopes were painted with a "crinkle" type paint.

Well, even at that price it didn't hang around for long! I see the same source now has another two trials 4T's just listed - is someone clearly out a collection?
