US infantry Weapons in Combat

I just finished reading US Infantry Weapons In Combat by Mark G. Goodwin. I thought it was a refreshing glimpse into what GIs thought of their weapons. It was interesting to read some vets saying that the M1 wasn't all that great when it got dirty while others (the majority it seems) said it worked perfectly even when dirty. It was also interesting to note that a lot of GIs felt that Browning .30 cals were behind the curve in combat compared to other weapon systems out there. If you haven't read the book yet I suggest picking up a copy.

You're welcome, the vets tell relatively short stories. They also cover more than just the M1. There were even a few mentions of M1917s in there as well, but used as more of a training weapon.
