Plane reminds me of one of the two (DC-3 and C-47 my father worked with in the '60s. It seems that a DC-9 airliner was taxiing by the general aviation section of McGhee Tyson airfield on a rainy day when he got one of his main mounts off into the rough. It was firmly lodged in the mud. Genius at the controls decided to get out by gunning his two jet engines. The plane swung around and the engines blasted the control surfaces off every aircraft (approximately 40) in the area, including the two classic Douglas cargo planes. We arrived to fnnd all the control surfaces piled haphazardly against the barrier fence by the force. The airline that owned the plane flew in their airframe and powerplant technical staff. The A&Ps rigged temporary fixes and flew the planes back to their service hub where they repaired every one of them. Wouldn't want to see that bill!

Missed on a KD uniform for Italy
in 43/44 and/or Palestine in 46-47.
Granted a bit of everything was worn in those theatres......

Are any "originals" still alive?
“There are invisible rulers who control the destinies of millions. It is not generally realized to what extent the words and actions of our most influential public men are dictated by shrewd persons operating behind the scenes.”
