    British Proofed S&W Victory

Can anyone give me information on a Victory lend/lease with LCK 38 P stamped into back side of grip frame? I am familiar with all other markings of revolver but cannot find history on this one.

The meaning is probably lost in the annals of history. May have been a guard gun at a factory, or any other use where it had to be accounted for and was thus marked.

Your S&W Victory was gun number 38 of the Police Force of Lübeck in Northern Germanyicon. After II WW the british built up a new police force in their occupation sector. First they were unarmed. Later they were armed with if I remember correctly with one revolver for 6 policemen and 12 rounds per gun. They were stamped with P for police, a code for the town(Lck = Lübeck, K or Ki= Kiel,........) and the inventory number.
Nice piece of history you got there.
