The base appears to be correct for an A3 (commercial). Which screws do you lack? If you are referring to the base to receiver screws, they are 6-48's. The original A4 screws were case hardened, but most base screws are not.
[/IMG]Thanks for the reply. Yes, I need the mount to receiver screws. Anybody sell just the set? I guess I could use aftermarket screws as long as they were the right lenghth, right?

sorry Jim...not 6-48, the A3 and A4 mounts use a 8-40 screw.

Ooops! You are correct. I goofed. The 8-40's were widely used in the early part of the century.

Thanks Chuck- know where I can get a set of these base screws? And seeing how the rear of the base does not sit flush with the receiver I'll need to shim the front, right? Aren't there shims out there made specifically for this mount?

Brownells sells them, youll have to figure the length.
i wouldnt shim the base, untill you shoot the rifle, then adjust.
if your base doesnt fit right the holes were drilled center..
sounds funny dont it??real A4,s have the holes off center, so the base will sit flat,
if you set the front part of the base flat on the receiver, and then look were the rear is,
its not going to be square.

I think somebody might have goofed on drilling the front hole. It looks as if the drill bit did a little sliding before going in.

I hope once I get the right screws I can tighten it down and this wont be a problem for this clone.
[/IMG]

The correct lengths for A4 screws are:
.25" rear
.510" front
As chuck has stated the correct screw size for an original A4 was 8-40.
For a clone its hard to say what might have been used for thr holes.

Regards,

Jim
