    Mauser help in Phoenix?

I purchased a Mauser K98kicon several years ago that had the barrel band placed on the wrong side of the stock. I have not been able to remove it. Could use some assistance if anyone in the Greater Phoenix area is willing to help.

    Thanks.

this doesn't sound like too difficult a fix. you should be able to do it yourself, if i'm reading this right. do you mean the band is on backwards? is it the front band or rear band? or do you mean the sling loop on the rear band is on the right hand side of the stock?

to get barrel bands off, first you'll need quick clamps to depress the band spring. then get a wooden dowel and rubber mallet. place the wooden dowel against an edge on the front band and give the other end of the dowel a few good whacks with the mallet. it'll pop off, but you may need to hit the dowel rather hard in some cases.

once the front band is off, you can remove the band spring and the rear band should slide right off. use the dowel method on the rear band if necessary

Yes, the sling loop is on the right side. I will try to do this. My concern is harming the stock.

ok, don't worry. this way of removing the bands is the standard way. it won't hurt the stock.

    i recommend these quick clamps
