    Weedon Standard

Sorry if this has been asked before, but am I correct in thinking that the name "Weedon" as applied to the repair standard, refers to the place where the standard/specification was set, and not necessarilly where the actual work was carried out? i.e. different companies were approved to carry out the work, to the specification set by Weedon.

    Hi Harry.
I saw this and was hoping someone better qualified would answer. In the absence of this I'll have a go!
I'm pretty sure you are right. I do know that other companies carried out the 'Weedon repair' (there was about 10 I think, including, if I remember rightly, companies like Greener, Westley Richards etc) but I can't confirm it was originated at Weedon although it seems that the name of the standard is a pretty big clue!

    Regards, Jon

I have been trying to find a written copy of the "Weedon Repair Standard" for the updating of the Pattern 1914 rifles for some time. There is obviously a written standard since information had to be conveyed to the other Britishicon gunmakers to follow in the upgrade to the "Standard". Has anyone seen a copy of the Weedon Repair Standard? If someone has a copy can they post it? And maybe archive it on the website.

I sure hope someone can find a copy of the standard. That would be pretty valuable information.
