    Strange Inglis MKII marking

I saw this Bren on gunnutz here in Canadaicon and if you zoom into the pic of the right side of the rcvr you will notice a swirl in the M.

Has anyone seen this before, and if so please explain.

He's been a bit premature with the pantograph cutter. To be honest, looking at the letter M and the dire trace of the INGLIS 1943, it looks like the gun has moved on the table.

I've seen quite a few Inglis guns with scruffy script, the pantograph 'Copy' was made from brass and the pick up/stylus/needle or what ever its called that was pushed in the copy was made from steel, this meant that after a few thousand markings the copy would ware and the script would become scruffy. The swirl like Peter has said is from a insecure mounting, premature start or perhaps rushing the job. I'm a novice when it comes to using my Taylor Hobson Pantograph and its the sort of mistake I make when I'm not thinking about what I'm doing.

    p.s. Note the Daimler/Monotype Mk2 lower.
