    My new M1917 Winchester

    Bought this off Gunbroker, UPS just delivered it. Winchester # 441509, W 2-18 barrel, W bolt, W marked stock

    Winchester # 441509 I believe that would be a Oct 1918 manufacture date.
    Double check your stock. The rear hand guard does not appear to be Winchester
    and the finger grooves look more like the shape of an Eddystone. It may just
    be the angle of the photo, but i would compare it with the photo's here. M1917 finger grooves and also compare the bolt cut out with the photo's here. Danish Eddystone: your opinion needed

    Can anyone tell if the stock is walnut? They used 3 different wood types on the '17's and I think that wood is not walnut, can't be sure. Both of my Winny's are nicely blued. This rifle is parkerized? Correct?

    Nice looking rifle! Yes, the finish is parkerizing and the wood appears to be walnut.
