In downtown Tucson there were two department stores (now long closed) that had a tunnel running between them.
Back when the tunnel was opened, they found several cases of NEW trapdoor carbines that were sent out to Arizona to arm mining company management because of union problems at the copper mines.

Of course when discovered, they were given to friends or employees by the owners of the department stores.
