    R over SG recoil plate

Cleaning some heavy crud off a box of recoil plates. Found this type III with the SG stamped on it. After oiling it.....wondering if this is a 'R' stamped above the G. I've never seen a R over SG plate. So I wouldn't know where the R would have been placed. Does it look like a R to anyone? Or am I just seeing lines from the milling along with the light pitting.

Saginaw sent recoil plates to Rock-Ola, that's where the R came from. Sorry, but I don't have War Baby! in front of me to tell you the date(s) the transfer took place. It is a legit marking and not a Bubbaism.

    Charlie,

A while back you were asking about recoil plates. I found this R over SG recoil plate.

Mine really doesn't look that rough in hand...but the picture doesn't help. I think I'm just looking at the milling and pitting pretended to be a worn R. I feel safe to just call it a SG. After cleaning and looking for markings on about 65-75 plates your eyes start seeing things ;-)

    Thanks
    Charlie
