    Boer 1895 ?

Recent auction pickup this 1895 mauser in the C block.Made by DWM. no stock marks, small insp stamp in front of the C. Mismatched straight bolt. Is this one of the Boer rifles that never made it?

Hi jmoore! It's nice to be missed!

Two weeks on the Galapagos islands - the only old bangers I saw were a percussion pistol and a side-by-side hammer shotgun. Both of which I would not have dared to fire!

You were conspicuous in your absence Patrick -
Hope you had a nice time. Did you take any pictures?

If I had been using a roll-film camera, it would have been expensive! When I have downloaded the lot and removed gigabytes of trash, maybe I will have one worth posting on the Watering Hole forum.

Any way, getting back on topic: bayonet, take a look at the thread on "Mysterious Mauser Marking" for my Boer Mauser. One originally similar to yours, but shortened by Mynheer TS (or ST) to make a carbine (easier to use on horseback!).

Ok I am a new member because I just got gifted one just like this, C 3xxx, and the front stock chopped to the swivel, no rod. The guy who had it said it shot fine before other projects became more important. I will post pics next week. What is this thing? and is it worth keeping as is or using as the base for a ghetto scout rifle project?

I cannot provide a useful evaluation without any pics. As you have already discovered, C 3xxx puts it in the "suspicious" range. Study the previous posts, search for "boer", and you will have a much better idiea of what your rifle is.

Check the "Similar Threads" box at the bottom of this thread, or click the "boer" tag below.

It DOES require scrolling down a little!

This looks like a good thread to start, but y'all sort it- I'm not a "Mauser guy", just happen to have a few!:
