    range report very short trip

I shot a USPSA match this morning so I threw my parts gun in the truck. When we got done with the pistol match I stopped by the rifle range for a minute. I threw a couple of shoot-n-see targets up on the 50 yard line. I shot one to get the point of aim -vs- point of impact figured out. then shot 3 shots at the second. I thought the first 2 missed, I dont have a spotting scope, so I changed my point of aim a little. Any way here is a shot of the target. Oh, and 2 people asked if I was selling my parts gun!

Glad you got that worthless old 'parts gun' to the range ave8er!

Yes, I bet you did get some attention, and you always will when you show up with a class act like you have. Nice shooting.

Funny how a "no collector value, worthless, parts gun" shoots so well.
Aren't you glad you ran into this forum and got the straight story.
    Good shooting!

But next time get all three rounds on center and make a clover leaf, I like pretty pictures…….

    I love a happy ending!

Man, I need to get to the range. Might have to do some .22 shootin' in the yard today to quench the thirst.

What kind of ammo did you use?

I wish that I had more time. I only shot 8 rounds because I needed to get home. I have not shot a rifle with the exception of my AR-15 for at least 10 years. This was a bit of a wake up call. The recoil was fairly significant I was shooting Winchester 180grn power point from Wal-Mart.

Dad, I am very glad that I found this forum. It has been very helpful. I may have to get more into rifle shooting since my pistol shooting seems to suck lately!

Nothing against where you bought your ammo, but they don't have an extensive selection. Try a dedicated sporting goods/hunting store for some different loads. Drop down to a 150gr. bullet weight (service round weight) for less recoil. Or just for fun, especially if you are only shooting at 50 yds., try Remington's "Managed Recoil" load with reduced chamber pressures and 125gr. bullet weight.

    HTH,

    Emri

I'm glad you found this forum too and didn't go off thinking your 03 was a junker because some #%@ tried to lowball you.

You'll get used to the recoil. My son started shooting 03's when he was 13 and I'd almost have to make him stop. I'd get in trouble when mom saw the bruises on his shoulder.

This is our 100 yard 'range' in east Texas. It's a little bit of a drive out there, but it's nice to be there alone.
